Portraits in absentia
I had the job of cleaning hotel rooms once. This was fascinating. Someone who — at most, was glimpsed in the hall or fleetingly interacted with at the counter — became shaped by what they left lying around. What we know of a person reflected in an assemblage of objects. Absent, yet present, a portrait derived from an alchemy of things.
